For Nepalis living and working in Korea. EPS questions, workplace problems, city-by-city contacts, and the mutual support that matters most to somebody placed alone in a small industrial town.
What this board is good for
- Someone near you. The community is large and spread out, and finding one person in your city changes everything.
- What a process was actually like - a transfer application, an insurance claim, a visa extension.
- Workplace experience, including which employers have been fair and which have not.
- Practical life: rooms, groceries, remittance, where to find Nepali food.
Where to go instead for anything serious
Said plainly, because the stakes here are high.
Unpaid wages, injury, a workplace dispute or a transfer should go to the labour authorities, the compensation service or a migrant worker support centre - not only to a board. Those bodies are free, they have power over an employer, and several work in Nepali. The immigration contact centre on 1345 is free and multilingual.
Nobody can sell you selection, a quota place or a visa. EPS is government to government and any fee outside the official process is money gone. If an offer arrives through this board, that is the warning sign.
EPS: working in Korea covers the departure payout and transfers, your rights as a worker covers the law, and making a complaint in Korea covers filing with the evidence you need.
The written reference
Nepalis in Korea is the section written for you, including daily life as a Nepali worker and the Nepali embassy in Seoul.
City by city
Worth organising around, because the Nepali population in Korea is spread across industrial areas rather than concentrated in one place.
Ansan has the largest concentration and the most visible Nepali commercial life. Beyond that the pattern follows work, with pockets around manufacturing districts and university cities, and a great many people placed alone in small towns.
If you are the only Nepali in your town, say where you are. Somebody within an hour will usually answer, and that single connection changes a placement more than anything else. The Nepali community in Korea covers the networks.
